"These were all done outside in the open. Then the Ditidaht were taken inside into Watty Shewish's house and another song was sung for Watty Shewish which I did not witness and one dollar passed to whole of crew invited by Ditidaht.

sitχalaačiʔa, Ditidaht comes morning (noon) of Jan. 22 to invite Tsishaath to potlatch. Came to yaac̉iƛ 'take them right along with him.' Just for nuušiƛsa singing nuukʷiicsỷak in Billy Yukum's launch. land at Cultus Bob's place. This is preliminary to formal landing in front of chief's place, as they want to find out proper ones to call. Stop at Bob's place because his wife is Ditidaht, and they visit relative, six men and one woman, daughter of Mrs. Bob (by former husband). Ditidaht is Nashasath on father's side.

After while Ditidaht file out of Bob's house and nuukʷiics čiisan̉ap is made by Watty Shewish, 12 of Tsishaath (mostly Nashasath) invited by Ditidaht owing to difficulty of landing at w̉aayi, where potlatch is to be given, Ditidaht were not to take Indians right along with them but return shore and send word (by wire) to Tsishaath in spring to come alone. This is practically yaac̉iƛ, as Ditidahtwould not come to haul them again (thus not giving them another chance to potlatch). After čiisan̉ap, in evening, potlatch was given by Capt. Bill's son, Edward and by Klootasee in Capt. Bill's house. Each gave $1.00 to each of seven visitors. The morning of Jan. 23rd, seven Ditidaht were feasted by Aleck at his home.

Continues Jan. 23, 1914, evening. Indians gather in Alex's house, sit around. Cultus Bob and Br. Bill have red on cheeks (C.B.: two stripes on each). Tom starts in with song. All alone for long time.
