It was the younger brother who went to Ecoole, going to his elder brother.

Village of Ecoole was on Seddall Island at point marked 12 on A.C. on south side of island. Village was at little bay just north(west) of 12. Santo until recently had house there. [Band of cum̉aqnitʔatħ of same tribe had village of cum̉aqnit at next bay but one east of Ecoole (northwest of 8).] cum̉aqnitʔatħ were tribe (not band of hikuuɬʔatħ) living at cum̉aqnit, village in bay north of Nob Point (northwest of A.C. 20). Santo's people originally (belonged to) were found at island of ỷaqiiƛimɬ 'long round island' (no. 14 A.C. of Chain Island). They were taken to Ecoole by chief and made slaves. They were from some unknown place and could not speak Nootka. All they said when chief talked to them was k̉oc̉ai which nobody could understand. Man found on island, however, married youngest daughter of Ecoole chief. Later on older lines died out, so that youngest daughter's line gradually rose in rank. Hence Santo claims chieftainship of Ecoole in opposition to Cultus Bob. Slavery story has not been forgotten. Once Frank William's grandfather and Santo's brother had quarrel and former twitted (??) latter with slave origin. He was so ashamed that he nearly cried (Frank Williams).
