This project is based on
the fieldnotes of Edward
Sapir, who conducted fieldwork among the
Nuuchahnulth people in the early 20th century. These serve as the
largest body of early, reliable research conducted on the language.
This material is supplemented by the principal investigator's own
fieldwork and the available results of other researchers.
The
principal investigator's research has been supported by a number of
research bodies, which are acknowledged in the section on support.
This financial support has permitted the hiring of a number
of individuals over the years, including those listed under people.
This research, like any work on a language, is ongoing and results will
continue to be reported as they arise. As such, these webpages as
subject to continual, though not necessarily regular, revision.
